Media Player not working

Media player has ceased to function properly, playing an mp4 file opens media player in a tiny window, the sound runs but the video does not. If I go to full screen, the image size stays the same (approx 2 inch square) and still does not run.

Acer Travelmate TMP453-M running W7 Professional, fully updated.

Everything was working OK just over a week ago, even after updating my Kaspersky antivirus - I think!!.

I went away on holiday taking the laptop with me but never switching it on till I returned home. When first turned on, I had no RED. I tried the windows colour calibration and that showed no change when moving the red scale slider - so red was dead. I looked in Device manager at the Display adaptor which is an Intel device, went to Acer support "drivers download" and found a later driver for the adapter, downloaded and installed. Made no difference. Restored system to earlier setting, still the same. Shut down laptop.

Next morning, booted up, colour perfect again but my Windows colour scheme had changed and the screen saver was turned off.

Then I tried to view an mp4 video. Would not work.

I have AVS4You software and that also would not now open any video format - it just does nothing when I select a file and hit "open".

Now when I boot the laptop I get 3 dialogue boxes asking if I want to run programs from C:\Windows\System32\ these being igfxtray.exe, hkcmd.exe and igdxpers.exe. It seems to make no difference whether or not I do run these on startup.

Pointers to the solution would be welcome. Thanks,

JerryL

Thanks but no, definitely not turned on by anyone else. I've run a full scan with Kaspersky Internet Security, nothing found.

However, I have cured my problem with Media Player by rolling back the Display Adapter Driver to an earlier version. Why this should work is not in my knowledge, but problem solved for now anyway.
