My wife and I are both connected through the same router. The issue is that we both have the latest Firefox installed. We both have Yahoo Mail but the kicker is that when she composes an email she gets a message that there are no contacts. Looking at the screen there is a shadow image of the first contacts. I have no problem with the contact list. Her last e-mails sent were Aug 31.
Could I have done something with settings that keep her from the Contacts? Where are the Contacts kept?

Hi!~ ChuckR,

Restore your entire contacts list of Yahoo:

If you want to restore your entire contact list of Yahoo then you can try these simple steps. Follow these steps one by one as given below.

· Tap to the Contacts icon after open the Yahoo mail.

· Click on Action and select Restore from backup.

· Now select the date on which you lost contacts from the drop-down menu.

· Tap to restore.

I tried your suggestion on my machine which accesses Contacts. I was NOT able to find the Action option. Does it matter we run Windows 7?
I will try this on my wife's machine that has lost the Contacts.

Since this runs in a browser, the OS won't matter as much as the version of Firefox. Make sure both FF are up to date.

Yahoo mail has a feature to restore the deleted or missing contacts. You can restore these mail contact individuals or restore the backup copy. If you want to recover the lost contacts from Yahoo email then you need to follow the steps.

Here is a more recent link in case the previous is an older version.: 5 Easy Steps to Restore Yahoo Missing and Deleted Contacts

I received the same response. I get options to SORT BY(2 choices), Import from another Account, Export to CSV file.
Where do I go from here?

Are you using the old or new version of Yahoo Mail as indicated here? Yahoo Small Business Community

Maybe switch to the new if you're not using it and the setting will be as described, fix the issue and if you don't like the new, it looks like you can switch back.

I'm sure someone else on here uses Yahoo Mail and will chime in with some advice.

Hang in there, we'll get it figured out. :-)

My mail screen is different from the one in the 5 easy steps example. The options are on the right side. I am still trying to get through to Yahoo help at the number you gave me.
Didn't know there is a choice, somehow. We are not a business and my wife only uses the e-mail with contacts(missing). How do I find what version I/we are using.

I received a different number and they will call back. The first person I talked to said they have a lot of this issue. Hopefully they can fix it.
I will let you know the results and solution if there is one.

Contacted Yahoo Tech Support. They identified the problem as Hacked Network. There were quite a few bad drivers running. The result
was turning both machines over to them for 3 hours while they cleaned up and installed my wifes FireFox again. All in all things are now working. One other strange activity was the installation of Google Chrome on my wife's machine so they could make adjustments.
All is fixed for now. I sure hope they stay fixed.
Thanks for the support.

Wow, I'm really surprised that Yahoo has tech support. I would not have guessed that.
I've had a Yahoo account since 1999 but I don't save contacts and removed most of the ones I had.

I now have an issue as to how it was solved. I thought I called Yahoo and had a call back from 1-800-499-3714. While working with them I was given info that they were HABIBOU OUEDRAOGO and an e-mail habibouwork@gmail.com. They also installed GOOGLE Chrome on my wife's computer. I am having a terrible time validating who they are and if they have a good/honest relationship with Yahoo.
I have a call into Yahoo at 800-822-6504 but no response yet.
Of course there is a 3yr Service Agreement payment.
They also took control of both computers. I changed Passwords on Financial accounts. I ran Malwarebytes and everything is okay.

So they called you back? No, you don't need to pay anything. Looks like that page or number has been compromised. Stop correspondence with these people now, please.

Looks like that was a bad number. I took it down. I think plodr is correct. I've searched for a yahoo 1-800 number and although there are numbers listed from reputable sources, the ones I've tried to call are not Yahoo. One was for a free medical bracelet.

have a call into Yahoo at 800-822-6504 but no response yet.

That number you have there is not Yahoo either, It's called Gil North America. I just called it.

This one 800-305-7664 is legit but it is a paid premium service. You really don't need to pay anything.

Continued curiosity. NETSTAT cmd. The results show addresses under a heading of Foreign Address. Exactly where are these addresses?
Is it possible to do a trace on these and find where they are located? I can't remember(age thing) how to take the results of a command and put it in a file.
Thanks to all.

It's a scam, They use these tactics to scare you into giving them money. There is no way to trace.

Dependent on its switches used, netstat shows connections made to your computer or a connection listening for a connection. If the person was connected to your computer remotely from a foreign IP then those IP's would show up in netstat at that time.

If you run it again, they will probably be gone.

Open an elevated command prompt - type in netstat -a -n -o and hit enter. You will always see connections. The -a shows all connections to your computer and what ports are listening. The -n makes it not resolve names which gives us a neater and quicker output. The -0 tells netstat to include the PID (Process Identifier) We can use this to identify the process that is either using a connection or listening for a connection.

This is one I borrowed from another user jenae. It sends the output to notepad. echo > 0 & netstat -a -n -o >> 0 & tasklist /v >> 0 & echo >> 0 & notepad 0

Great command. From it and Google Developer, I find NO reference to Yahoo or Yahoo Mail. I would assume Yahoo is an application that is included in Chrome and FireFox browsers.

It's more like a web address unless you have a Yahoo mail checking extension installed in Chrome or Firefox. Either way, whether connected via a website or an extension, the connections would show up in netstat.

For instance, close all browsers and run the neststat above. Then open Firefox or Chrome and navigate to yahoo.com. Run the neststat again, you'll see probably multiple new connections there.

Also to consider: If you have a flag in Chrome set to "always run in the background", you'll still have those connections show in netstat even after closing Chrome.

I see you mentioned changing all your passwords for your financials. I'd go ahead and change the rest of your passwords as well. Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc.
