On turning on my laptop this morning I found my screen was only about half brightness, my headphones didn't work and a few other wee niggles.
I couldn't get my screen to brighten, done a sfc which was ok, went to control panel , power options, and power options wouldn,t open. Went to a few other places in control panel who had 'adjust power settings' incorporated, but they wouldn't open either. Also went to Start, run , and typed in the cpl to open ' power options' but to no avail! Help wanted please, Alex

Hi. . .

It's possible that the user profile has been corrupted. Just to make sure, log onto the system under a different user account. If you don't have one, activate the hidden Admin user account and use it for testing purposes.

Here is a brief tutorial - Enable/ Disable the Hidden Administrator User Account (Windows 8.1 / 8 / 7 / Vista)

Be sure to re-hide the Admin user account when finished with the test. Instructions are at the end of the tutorial.

Regards. . .
