Hey there,
I'm facing the same problem as apparently many users of Win 8.1 - crackling, lagging etc. when trying to play audio data, no matter if online or from the local hard drive. Sometimes the distortion is extreme, sometimes is works well for some time before the problems appear again.
I already tried to update drivers via Hardware Manager, but they all seem up to date and it's still not working properly. Also, I could detect no extreme CPU or RAM activity via Task Manager.
The speakers cannot be the problem, either, because it's the same with headphones.
My OS is Win 8.1 Pro with Intel Core i7-4700MQ & NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M/2 GB GDDR5.
I would be very grateful if someone could explain to me how to diagnose and troubleshoot this issue - I've already read about latency tests and stuff, but I don't know which information you need, so just tell me.
Thanks in advance!
