After running sfc /scannow in admin mode, I am left with a truly massive number of files System File Checker could not repair. (See CBS.ZIP attached to this post for the log)

Machine: Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (SP1)

If you need more info, I'd be glad to provide it if the attached system information file does not.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Download and Run SFCFix

Please download and run SFCFix from >Here<

It will take about 15 minutes to process. Once the scan has completed a notepad file will launch with the results. Please copy and paste the entire contents of the results and post them back into this thread. Please put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

May not be a fun read. Flash scan failed Stage 1, while all other stages worked. No ZIP files created; all errored with "Error 2".
Code:
SFCFix version 2.4.1.0 by niemiro.

SFCFix version 2.4.1.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 3 datablocks.

More notes: Toshiba's System Recovery partition runs, but claims I'm not running a correct version of Windows (I think it says it can't recognize the version)...which is a bit of an annoyance, since I do not have a Win7 DVD to copy back from.

Thanks for that.

Now lets get those CORRUPT: files fixed.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC /SCANNOW

  1. Click on the
    Win7Orb_zps4dae3b32.jpg
button. Inside the search box type in CMD
  2. Right click on CMD => Choose Run as Administrator
  3. Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following command SFC /SCANNOW
  4. Please wait for this to Finish before continuing with the rest of the steps.

Convert CBS.log to CBS.txt

  1. Click on the
    Win7Orb_zps4dae3b32.jpg
button => Inside the search box copy and paste the following command:
    Code:
    cmd /c copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  2. Press Enter
  3. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive

Thanks for that.

Now lets get those CORRUPT: files fixed.

Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
The link leads to the private messages area, and there is no message there other than the initial Welcome message. Oops? :-p
Also: I have located a Win7 ISO image of the proper type (contains Win7 Home Premium x64 SP1), but when I mount it on a virtual DVD drive, SFCFix can't locate it, and I know the drive letter it's on. Is there a way to extract the files library I need from the image to copy down to the HDD where SFCFix can find it (without creating a DVD, which I really don't want to do if it's not needed!)

All the files are still showing as corrupt inside SFC:

Can you please do another scan with SFC /SCANNOW and upload a new cbs.log file for me please?
