[SOLVED] laptop goes to sleep but doesn't wake up

The title says it all. I'm working on a coworker's HP laptop running Windows 10. I set it to go to sleep after 10 minutes on battery power.



On battery power after 10 minutes it goes to sleep but then nothing wakes it up. I tap keys, jiggle the mouse, tap the power button, etc. I am forced to do a hard shutdown by holding down the power button.

I guess I could set it to Never for battery power like I have for plugged in. Any ideas?

Try clicking rather than moving mouse and hitting space-bar on keyboard.

Nope. That doesn't wake it up. For what it's worth, the keyboard backlight lights up, but that's all.

Device Manager>Mouse you're using>right click>Properties>Power Management>Allow this device to wake the computer>Save. Do the same for keyboard.

The mouse is set to wake it up.





But I don't see that setting for the keyboard.

Does it now work when hitting left mouse button?

Unfortunately, no. Nothing wakes it up. Neither mouse button, space bar, touchpad, power button ... nothing.

Hmmm. Not even turning off fast startup makes a difference. I'm just going to leave Screen on 10 minutes and Sleep to Never while on battery power. If she get the low battery notification, well, she knows what to do. Thanks for the effort. I'm going to mark this one SOLVED.
