[SOLVED] KB4499164 failed with 80070002 on WS 2008R2 Standard SP1 x64

The patch installs, however during reboot it fails and rolls back. Please note, it does the same thing for ANY Monthly Quality Rollup. I actually tried going back as far as they existed which ones KB3185330 October 2016.

I have followed all the instructions on Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions and even reviewed OTHER threads with similar issues.

SFC Scan - No Issues

I installed the readiness tool

SFCFix - 0 Corruptions

Actually its a role isn't it? It's not enabled... would this fix it? I might need to do a Change Control for this. What are the pro's and con's for this other than it fixing the patches?

Nope. If it's disabled, please leave it disabled.

Please uninstall it. It is the root cause of the issue.

Afterwards, retry updates and everything should work.
