Hey, this is my first entry on this forum and i am hoping you guys can help me.

I am using Windows 7 x64.
I can download both security updates but when I install them im getting this error "WindowsUpdate_80073701" "WindowsUpdate_dt000".
Also tried to manually install the updates without any luck. Tried renaming the SoftwareDistribution. Also ran sfc /scannow - no errors.

I have run the System Update Readiness without any error in the log:

"=================================
Checking System Update Readiness.
Binary Version 6.1.7601.22471
Package Version 26.0
2019-04-09 11:19

Checking Windows Servicing Packages

Checking Package Manifests and Catalogs

Checking Package Watchlist

Checking Component Watchlist

Checking Packages

Checking Component Store

Summary:
Seconds executed: 211
No errors detected"

I had alot of errors earlier that I fixed and thought the updates would work after but it did not.
So if any of you guys have any ideas that I haven't already tried, it would be much appreciated.

/Gustaf

Now it's the KB4493472 monthly update from april that's the problem, the other ones hasn't been installed either.
It's only the security updates that it's a problem with. Everything else installs just fine.
I've also been in contact with Microsoft support without any luck as usual when talking to most support lines.
The CBS log was originally about 200mb in size so i deleted everything before the latest error. Is that ok?

Appreciate the help :)

Yes, that's okay :)

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and choose Control Panel.
2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
3. Select the Programs group.
4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Windows Features dialog. Wait until this dialog populates with information. If this does not happen for some reason, please continue with the steps anyway.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps.
5. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
6. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
7. Copy and paste KB4480970 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
8. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.
9. You may close any remaining open windows now.

Hi!

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
6. Try updates and if any fail, attach CBS.log.

It worked! Thank you so much! I have spent countless hours on this and you fixed it directly! So impressed, thank you again. I will be coming back for sure :)
Can you tell me what was the root problem?

Great!

The remnants of another update were causing the issue. I forcibly removed them from the system to allow for the installation to go through.

This has been a very common issue since 2016 when MS started issuing Monthly Rollups.
