Hello I am new to this forum. I see that you have an forum topic dedicated for Windows Update. I think that is wonderful considering every update reacts differently on machines. I am currently having an issue with KB4041681 from installing. I have reset my Window Update service and history. I have tried to manually run the update but getting an error - An error occurred - Package_for_RollupFix Error: 0x80070002. I have attached my CBS.Log file. Please advise. any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named SleepyDude. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hi nice to meet you.

Lets see what is going on...

System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
  • Download the System Update Readiness Tool (x64) and save it to some place, its a big download and eventually we need to run it several times, please keep the file
  • Run the tool. Its like an Update but it can take a long time to do the work. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running
  • Please attach to your post the log from the following location: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
    Note:
If the file is too big please Zip it and upload the ZIP file to a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. or upload to SendSpace and just provide the link for the file here
