Hello. I'm having some problems with my machine and tried to perform an SFC /SCANNOW to see if it would fix. Unfortunately, it didn't. Searching around the web, Google land me here. So, here I am.

To give a little information about my system, I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro x64, it is a clean install from 2014. Since then, I just updated my machine via Windows Update. My hardware is an old Core2Quad 9550 (no overclock or anything like that), 8gigs of RAM and my main drive is a 256GB Samsung 840Pro.

My first problem was that I have an update from Windows Update that was failing to be installed from months. It's related to IE's Flash.
The update is KB3079777 (I can swear that this number has changed, it wasn't always that, but it's always related to IE's Flash!) and Windows Update always gives me the very same error: 800F0922.

Looking other threads at these foruns, I could see that you use a tool called SFCFix. I ran that and it didn't helped much. When I try to run Windows's SFC /SCANNOW, it stops at 38% and gives a message saying that corrupted files were found and some of them couldn't be repaired, that I should look at the CBS.log.

Here are the logs I collected from the system:

DISM log after running SFCFIX:
Microsoft services

CBS log after running SFC /SCANNOW after having ran SFCFIX:
Microsoft services

SFCFix.txt (I guess it's the log generate by SFCFix):
Microsoft services

Well, I hope someone can help me here. I tried to give all information I could find! Any help will be appreciated!

Peace,
Eduardo Barth.

One thing I forgot to mention: all attempts to fix the problems by running SFCFix or SFC /SCANNOW were performed in Safe Mode with Network.

I am a Win7 die hard. So I guess I can't help. Good luck..

I noticed some of your other posts, and I appreciate your trying to help, but please do not post because you can.

Hello and Welcome :)

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, copy the DISM and CBS folders to your Desktop, then right click on each and select Send To -> Compressed (zipped) folder.

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\

    C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\

  4. Upload DISM.zip and CBS.zip to a service such as OneDrive, DropBox, or SendSpace and include the link with your reply.

I performed that without Safe Mode. The logs are here: Microsoft services

Thanks for your help, my friend!

Your logs look good :)

Try installing the update. If the update fails include the error code, C:\Windows\Logs\CBS.log, and C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log with your reply.

Hey buddy, I tried to perform the udpate. The error code is 800F0922, I zipped the CBS.log and the WindowsUpodate.log, but this time the CBS.log is something like 100MB! The final zip got 2,5MB, hope it's not a problem for you!

Here are the logs: Microsoft services

Again, thanks for your help!

Please try SFC /scannow

When it completes, zip and upload the entire C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\ folder.

Hey buddy, sorry for delay, I was sleeping! I performed the sfc /scannow after failing the update and zipped the entire Logs folder, so it has the DISM logs... perhaps it turns to be useful, perhaps not, but I did it anyway.

Here is the logs folder: Microsoft services

Thanks for your attention again!

Hey buddy, now you got something! For some reason, there's not a single installed update related to IE! What do you recommend me to do now?

I tried to manually install some IE updates (including the ones you stated) and all of them failed to install. The installer said the updates weren't for my system. It's really strange.

I want to do a little more digging and I'm not seeing the information that SFC usually puts in the log, so I think it got put into one of the persisted cab files.

Try this to automate the log file collection and upload:

SFCFix CBS Collection

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save it to your Desktop https://www.sysnative.com/forums/downloads/sfcfix/
  2. Download SFCFix.txt and save this to your Desktop as well: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...FCFix.txt?dl=1
  3. On your Desktop, you should now see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.txt.
  4. Drag the file SFCFix.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.

This will automatically collect, zip, and upload the logs for me to review.

I performed, the output SFCFix.txt was that:
Code:
SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2015-07-28 21:29:50.568
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update 3 - amd64
Using .txt script file at C:\Users\Eduardo Barth\Desktop\SFCFix.txt [0]

In theory I did it right, let me know if you got the logs! Thanks for your attention, you're being really kind!

Hey buddy, I really appreciate your help, but you can close this thread. My Windows 8.1 was updated to Windows 10, hence, the problem was automatically been fixed.
