Hello

I have been reading a lot of your posts and seems like you guys know how to fix these issues. After reading a few I have tried Windows Update troubleshooter, System Update Readiness tool, System File Checker tool.

This is Server 2008 R2 Datacenter. Attached are the logs I believe that you need to see what's going on. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay. It looks like you may have some registry corruption. Please do the following if you still need assistance.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again. If you can't reboot your machine because it's a server let me know and I'll provide alternate instructions.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Here are the files again. It looks like it might have fixed all the errors but the install still fails with the same error code. I did reboot the server with the same results. It does get to 9% of the installation and then fails. Let me know if you need any other information from me.

Thanks

Please do the following so I can get a fresh log.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

YAHTZEEEE!!! The update installed BrianDrab! I have confirmed with my WSUS server that it is compliant now. Thank You for the time put into this. I am in the process of getting a donation approved so I can give you guys something back for your time. I did open another ticket this morning on another issue I am having with a server but I'll wait to hear on that one a few days. Thanks again and let me know if you need any other logs for reference or anything.
