Hi,

Re: KB3000850

I have tried for days to get this Windows Update to post so I can upgrade this laptop to Windows 10.
I have read many web sites and tried many things.
I have read several previous posts on Sysnative.com.

So far I have done
SFC /SCANNOW said it found issues it could not fix
Downloaded SFCFix.exe and ran it.
It produced the following report:
SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2016-03-27 11:42:54.864
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update 3 - amd64

Looks like one got fixed.
But I do not know what to do about the others.
Thanks in advance for any help that is available.

Hi Ben :)

You don't need to fix any corrupt files in order to upgrade to Windows 10. The easiest way to upgrade would be to download the Media Creation Tool, and either use the "Upgrade now" option (1st one), or download an .iso (2nd option), save it on your system, mount it (right-click on it and select "Mount"), then launch the setup.exe inside to start the upgrade process.

Windows 10

Thanks for your message and encouragement. However, I have tried every way suggested and Win 10 Upgrade will not post because every time there is an error because KB3000850 will not post.

The usual error I get is 80070002-20009.

Later got error 80246010

Ran SFC /SCANNOW

Alright, in that case let's run SFC to see what version of MSDTC.LOG Windows is expecting in your case.

EndqYRa.png
System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't have the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.
