Hello guys.
Long time no talk to you.
I am now using Windows 10 Home Single language (PT-BR) version 2004.
My desktop and notebbok, thopugh from distinct ages are seeing similar problems.

I´d like to start with the older, my desktop.

1. When trying to install 2020-07 update through Windows Update, the system informs update was downloaded and installed, with information: Downloading 100% followed by Installing 100%. Next a message informing that some updates could not be installed and maybe installing it later may result in success. Informed code error 0x80073701.

2. When trying to access System (Video, Sound, Energy, etc) following Computer Configuration>System I get 2 possible effects, either Pc returns to Desktop screen or a glimpse of options for System (Video, Sound, Energy, etc). Search on internet indicates Microsoft is aware of this and call it an emerging issue associated with installing Windows 10 over previous Windows system. In my particular case, I did a clean install, formatting the system drive (C:\) prior to installing the new system.
I have run Sfc /scannow that informs to have found several corrupted files and could not repair all of them.
I have tried SFCFix, and got the information that attempt to solve issues was successful, but an alert is displayed under AutoAnalysis:

WARNING: Components hive failed size test and may be corrupt.

Attached, please find latest CBS.log.Tried, but SFCFix report was not accepted by this page, so I copied it below, removing some blank lines.

SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro.
Start time: 2020-07-18 12:29:55.704
Microsoft Windows 10 Build 19041 - amd64
Not using a script file.

AutoAnalysis::
WARNING: Components hive failed size test and may be corrupt.

SUMMARY: No corruptions were detected.
AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully.

Successfully processed all directives.
SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.
Finish time: 2020-07-18 12:30:15.345

Thanks.

HI,
Passing just to leave an update.

The quarantine is giving me plenty of time to spend, so I took the opportunity to do 3 things.

1. I installed Windows 10 from zero, formatting system drive first.

2. Find the forum instructions for posting, so I followed them and ran sfc, dism/restorehealth, SFCFix. The new attached CBS.log is now much more precise and is tenfold the size of previously attached report.
Restorehealth and SFCFix reported as successfully completed, although SFCFix informed there was a lot of corrupted files and that scanning time would be extended.
Line command sfc /scannow returned a message like: Windows Resources Protection found corrupted files but could not correct some ....., and that information was available in CBS.log file.
I have also run chkdsk /r, what apparently has eliminated the creation of a log file named sfcOput, that had a one line report informing a requested operation could not be performed.

3. Going after the installation issue with 2020-07 update (KB 4565503), I found that it requires installing KB 4566785 before updating. I did it, downloading and installing a file from Microsoft Update Catalog. After that, I tried to install the 2020-07 update, without success (same error code: 0x80073701). I still see the Configuration> System sequence leading me straightly to the desktop screen instead of access to Video, Energy, etc.

Hello again.
After several tentatives to no avail (reinstalling Windows 2004), seeing the Windows Update issue and the Configuration>System repeating after every clean install, I have installed version 1909 (19h1 compilation), and both issues disappeared.
The now installed version (1909) Windows Update does not list KB 4565503 as an update.
So, please consider this thread closed.

Just to inform those following this thread, on August 12th Microsoft released through Windows Update a features package to update Windows version to 2004 compilation 19041.388. After downloading and installing it, the issue concerning settings> System ---> glimpse of System scren and return to Desktop screen and issues with Windows Update no longer appeared. Windows Update downloaded and installed KB 4566782, changing compilation number to 19041.450.
So far, so good.

Case closed.
