I have read various threads related to my problem but have stopped short of some fixes because of your advice regarding individual situations. I have run windows update to get things up to date. KB3097989 fails. Others later succeed. I have run the windows update troubleshooter and three things get fixed but at the top I see "update error 0x870073712"
I created a restore point as of now.
I ran SFCfix; It reported 0 CBS & SFC issues. It reported 8 detected corruption count, 0 unimportant, and 0 total fixed.
My CBS log and the .Zip version are on my desktop. I am trying to follow the instructions for including them. Here goes for trying the .Zip file: I clicked the paper clip; browsed to the file on my desktop; right clicked on it, clicked select, clicked open, and then in the add files on your site, clicked upload. a spinning thing was up in the right hand corner. I waited for it to stop. I hope that means it has gone to you. I do not see anything yet to confirm this.
I have not yet downloaded packs.zip. But I previously ran the SURT that Microsoft provides bur it did not help with my problem.
I have downloaded windows repair ( All-in one) and have extracted tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio to the desktop. I have not run anything from it.
I await further advice from you. Thank you very much for your work. I will make a donation for sure if we are successful. I am now going to post my thread
