We sold out at the paint store yesterday, I went to order more from the 3 suppliers I get them from and they are out of stock as well. On a whim, I went to Ebay, this is a pallet, pre virus, we paid about $3500.0 for a pallet.

I just saw on Headline News this morning that Amazon will kick off and delete the accounts of any seller attempting to price gouge potential buyers on masks.
Apparently those masks aren't even effective at protecting you against the virus either.
It depends on the specific type. Those just for "dust" are no good. But those above are "N95" certified and IF properly fitted, are effective against the viruses too.

We sell them for various things at the paint store. IE: Dust, lacquer spraying, etc. Take a look on ebay and Amazon. There are some over $100 for 2 masks which used to cost $5 for a 2 pack.

I will say some of the links I clicked on at Amazon would not load to my cart. Looks like Amazon is implementing the block. We sell the N95, P95 and R95 and none are available anywhere. P95 and R95 are N95 rated plus oil droplets whereas N95 will not protect against "Droplets of oil".

Digerati is correct about the fit, if you buy an adult mask for a child it is as ineffective as having nothing on against a virus or fumes. If you can find masks, make sure they fit perfectly.

I for one am hoping for the positive side of things with corona, as the influenza virus kills 25,000-69000 people every year. However, it is never a bad thing to be prepared.

If it is spread like a cold, the mask stops you from getting germs in your nose and mouth because you can't touch them with any sort of mask on.
You also need something to protect your eyes. Like safety glasses or ski goggles.
The masks only act as reminders that germs enter through your nose, mouth and eyes. If you cover those 3 areas, your hands can't touch them to spread germs easily.

Exactly @plodr , I was reading yesterday that the spread is usually due to contact within 6 feet. Persons not following the rules of being sick, Stay home, cover your cough, wash hands, don't touch the face. It's not the virus that worries me as much as the human reactionary factor. The numbers are high in China because they have 1.3 Billion people there.

Masks can efficiently stop particulates / viruses - I think the main problem is that they're really most effective when you're also wearing goggles/gloves and other protective gear - aka the full protective clothing you'll see health workers wearing, and then constantly washing your hands and decontaminating yourself.

WHO has some guidelines on this:
When and how to use masks

Wearing a mask itself might not prevent you getting infected with anything - I've seen tons of people with masks continuously use their hands to take them on / off, which kinda defeats the point. But it may make people feel a lot safer as well, which is probably a good thing.

A Guy

We're permanently working from home now - happened around 2 weeks ago.

We've had our first fatality yesterday.

Today, all the (non-essential) shops/restaurants/bars have closed down, people started losing jobs and one of my family members was put into quarantine because he is at risk due to his age and sickness.

I was saddened to see that the deaths in Italy now surpass those in China and Italy only had 1/2 the cases that China reported.

We had our first case in my county in Pennsylvania and also our first death on Wednesday. 18th. Our governor has essentially closed down all non-essential businesses to try and stop this from spreading.
