Hi Folks,

I'm confronted with an annoying issue.
I took over the Laptop from my wife (with Windows 10 family x64 installed). I reset it and I have the "read-only" issue ever since then.
When I unchecking it, It comes back always and always...

Help me, please ! ^_^

I did the "net user administrator /active:yes" 's command but same issue with it.

Thanks.

Not enough information. What folder? Is it all folders? Is it just one file in one folder? Are you the owner of these files and folders?

See this.

Hi,

Sorry for the lack of information.

It's all folder like : desktop, my documents, my music, my pictures, program files, windows, windows.old, etc.

But, the thing is I can creat files into those folders... (which aren't in read-only state)

Very strange...

regards,
GensoD.

Edit : I have already done the steps that your link offers.

After further research, I am not sure what you are trying to do is easily done - Windows/Microsoft really has no way of knowing you are a good guy and are not trying to take over a stolen computer. I might suggest you create a new admin account user - essentially starting over for you, then delete the old account.

Perhaps someone more experienced with Windows user accounts than me will stop by and offer something better.

You may need to change who can take ownership of a file/folder. You can do so using the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
If you don't have gpedit on your system, this is because you have a standard/home version of windows.
You will need to upgrade your copy of Windows to at minimal Windows 10 Pro.

Path to follow in the gpedit console: Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Take ownership of files or other objects

If this does not work, it may be an issue with the NTFS Volume. You should run CheckDisk and see if any issues are reported.
