I was referred here by Bleeping Computer on my topic Issue with installing specific Windows 10 Update and the forum's advisor last post earlier today was:

I don't see an issue with Windows Updates. The update KB5009543, however, does have issues as it may break down VPNs. Go to this forum and register. Open a topic with your issue. They do have special tools to troubleshoot the problem. You can make reference to this topic.

As recommended by BC, I have run multiple processes and posted multiple logs (Speccy, Mini Toolbox, AdwCleaner, SFC scan; DISM scan, CBS.log, WUReset.bat, WUUpdate.txt, WU Troubleshooter, and Farbar Service Scanner). Please let me know what you would like me to do next and any files you would like me to attach. Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

I found and read your previous thread at BC: Issue with installing specific Windows 10 Update - Windows 10 Support

Please attach a copy of the CBS folder to your next post.

  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

Hi,

Please attach also the following logfile.

  • Right-click on the file setupapi.dev and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.

  • Click on the Yes button here.

Hi Maxstar,

Is there some helpful information in the CBS log (posted Saturday) and the setupavi.dev log (posted Sunday) and is there anything you would like me to do? As you read in my thread on Bleeping Computer, my Windows 10 Update issue started with a BSOD occurrence back in early December and I have that log file if required. Many thanks.

Hi,

Yes. I'm currently in training so my posts will need to be approved by the Sysnative instructors. So please be patient, I will come back to you when my fix is approved.

Hi,

Download the

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link

Warning: This script was written specifically for this system. Do not run this script on another system.

  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

I have the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (64-bit version) open. Options are Scan, Search Files, Search Registry, and Fix. Am I choosing Scan or Fix?

Never mind...didn't read instructions thoroughly. Attached is Fixlog.txt file.

Hey Maxstar, after we have solved the Windows Update issue for my Lenovo running Windows 10, would you be able to help me with a Windows Update issue on my Dell Inspiron 3647 running Windows 8.1 or should I start/post a new thread? Thanks.

On my Lenovo running Windows 10, shall I continue to keep the Windows Update service set to Automatic? Today, there were two updates that installed successfully (Microsoft Defender Antivirus antimalware platform - KB4052623 (Version 4.18.2201.10) and Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.357.405.0). However, the problem update (2022-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5010342) failed to install (Error 0x80070002).

Could you please let me know if the Fixlog.txt file resolved anything and what the next step is. Many thanks.

Hi,

Please start a new thread for the Windows Update problem on your Windows 8.1 system. So another helper can pick up that thread to help you. (y)

Could you please let me know if the Fixlog.txt file resolved anything and what the next step is. Many thanks.

For this thread, I proposed a fix but is still awaiting for approval, if it is approved I will come back to you with the next steps. Thank you for your patience.

Is the fix that you have proposed the same one that has been waiting for approval since Tuesday (8th) or is it another "new" fix?

No, the fix I made is based on the Fixlog.txt you posted on Wednesday.

Hi,

Step 1. Download
56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Reboot the computer and run the System File Checker.
  • Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, and press enter.
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
  • Wait for this to finish before you continue
  • Now copy and paste the following command into it, and press enter.
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
This command will create cbs.txt on your Desktop. Zip this file and attach the zipped cbs.txt to your next post.
