I have an RCA smart TV. I found a white noise streaming channel that I would like to play at night, but I don't want a picture. Is there a way to turn the screen off but leave the power on so that I hear the white noise? I looked through all the settings but I didn't see this option.

I thought I could just hang a blanket over the TV but I see that there are heat vents in the back that I don't want to cover. There are dozens of white noise apps that I could use with my phone, but the sound is much better from my TV.

You can't turn the screen off, but maybe turn the brightness all the way down? You can probably customize a video preset to have the brightness all the way down and just change the video mode when you go to bed

And that is a 2013 model I believe. It may not be long for the world and playing it all night might hasten that

OT: sad that current tvs last for such a short time. Three of our tvs are from the 1989, 1991 and 1996. The two "newer" ones are played for quite a few hours every day.

If you can play YouTube on the TV, an alternative might be to try and find a similar channel that has a black image:

Put the image full screen, turn down the brightness as well to save power and lengthen the lifespan of the TV.
