Is there a way to disable the notice to set up OneDrive? I don't want it.

I disabled OneDrive because it is annoying and I would like to use it to manually back up files, not automatically. But I still have a directory called OneDirve with files in it and whenever I open that directory I see:

onedrive.jpg

I have to close this notice every time. Obviously this is not a major headache, but I would like to disable it. How?

How do you use it without setting it up? Do you access it from a browser?
There are ways to disable Onedrive but I want to make sure I understand what your goal is.

One Drive really isn't intended to be a selective content backup subject to the users personal schedule. There are much better apps for that. If you don't need it for the way MS intended, just delete it.

I don't use OneDrive any longer, but I still have a directory called OneDrive which, I believe, triggers that notification. I will check out the tutorials and see if I can figure it out. I would like for OneDrive to behave like Dropbox, but I understand that it was not created to function like Dropbox. Thank you again to all who replied.

Hi. . .

Create a system restore point first - (2) Windows System Restore - Create a Restore Point (Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 & Vista) | Sysnative Forums

Since you no longer use One Drive, disable it with SysInternals AutoRuns from Microsoft.

Autoruns for Windows - Windows Sysinternals | Microsoft Docs

Unzip autoruns.exe (no installation required - it is a stand alone EXE); extract to Documents.

RIGHT-click on autoruns.exe, "Run as Administrator"

Allow 30-60 secs for autoruns to scan the registry

Click on 1st column "Everything"

Un-check the box to the left for anything related to One Drive.

Regards. . .

Not to mention, DON'T use a folder named OneDrive, since Windows (since OneDrive is shipped with) has every reason to believe that if that's present, has files in it, and OneDrive is not active that something's wrong.

Create a different folder, cut everything in the OneDrive folder, and paste it in to that different folder. Then nuke the OneDrive folder.
