Hi, my Windows 7 SP1 computer just refuses to install IE 11. I have tried manually installing the update to no avail. SFC reports no corruption and I have run SURT which completed successfully. Also tried various MS fixit tools.

On a side note, I am unable to start event viewer and computer management - I get the error 'MMC has stopped working'.

SFCFix lists 28 SURT corruptions

I have attached the CheckSUR and SFCFix logs for your perusal.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

That error code usually relates to an incorrect system date.
please check it, and your Bios time as well.

Hi, sorry for the delayed response - Iv'e been on holiday. I ran the IE 11 x64 offline installer which finished by automatically opening IE. The version still states 9 though?

Interesting. I don't see any error messages in the logs.

Please try the following:

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please zip and attach this to your next post.

Open Programs and Features in the Control Panel, then choose View Installed Updates.
Find Windows Internet Explorer 11 in the list and uninstall it.

Restart the computer when the process finishes.

Next, repeat the process but for Internet Explorer 10, then Internet Explorer 9.

Let me know if you get an error message or if this process completes successfully.
