Hi,

I am not sure if there is anything special that I need to do to install windows 7 on this hard drive. I have changed the drive from MBR to GPT. It is showing up as only 31GB in my current install of windows, but I imagine that will change when i do the install with the dvd. Any advice will be very much appreciated.

How big is your BIOS saying the drive is? Note you need a motherboard with UEFI BIOS for drives larger than 3Tb (with the latest BIOS update, if available). If your board is standard BIOS, or even with UEFI, you may be better off, and happier with the performance if you boot to a 128-256Gb SSD, then use that monster 4Tb as storage.

My bois says that its is 33.8GB. I would get a smaller ssd but right now money is tight and i just can't afford it. So I am trying to use what I have and learn something in the process.

Well, if your BIOS says only 33.8Gb, then this is not a Windows issue. I would check your motherboard's website BIOS updates.
