Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (Upgrade from factory-installed Windows 7)
Build 1607
I'm trying to apply the Windows 10 April 2018 Update to my system. The standard MS installation approaches have failed and I've tried every fix I could find without success. I received a number of error codes while "playing around" with the different approaches including 0x8000ffff, 0x8007007e, and 0x80070652 along with a dialog box simply noting that the update failed.
For this posting, I installed an image of my SSD that I created before the "playing" around, uninstalled Norton along with several other applications, ran Disk Cleanup including a System Cleanup (21.5 GB free), and retried the MS tools again.
Window 10 Update Assistant failed and threw a 0x8007007e error; running the ISO created by Windows Media Creation Tool 1803 also failed after ~70% completion and returned a dialog box noting that the update failed without displaying a reason. /scannow returned "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service." SFCFix apparently stalled/failed without returning a log file; I captured the contents of the Command Prompt window and attached a text file with the contents.
I would really, really appreciate any help you'd be willing to provide.
THANKS!!!
