Hi,

sfc /scannow also threw some errors about "iecompat.dll" that could not be resolved so far:

Info CSI 0000038e [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"iecompat.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-IE-IECompat, Version = 8.0.7601.17667, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch

No clue how to fix that.
Any help much appreciated.
Thank you very much!

Hello and welcome,

Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.

Code:
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the download link.

Hi and thanks.

Surprisingly, running sfc check again directly after reinstall of KB2598845 did not yield any errors.
Even after reboot, then another sfc check, no errors.
So I guess, this closed.

My only explanation is, that several reboots since removing KB2598845 as well as several sfc checks somehow cleaned out unseen errors.
What do you think could have done the trick?

Many thanks!
:)

Yes, the installation of KB2598845 fixed the 2 iecompat.dll errors.
As this issue is solved we move on in your other thread.

What I was trying to express is, that several times KB2598845 was installed each time with the errors coming up, and uninstalled and the errors gone, but then, waiting a few days and several reboots in between (without KB2598845 installed), seems to have removed other unseen errors, and then reinstalling KB2598845 did work without bringing up the errors. Do you see what I mean and why I wonder about it? - Am just trying to understand, since it is counter-intuitive, or what am I missing? Thank you for all you do. Truly appreciate your help and explanations.
