Hi there.
I wanted to reset my PC and get rid of my files. I used the "Reset this PC" option first, but for some reason around 65-68% I always got this message "There was a problem resetting your PC, No changes were made". I tried everything, unfortunately I don't have a USB, so I can't do the reset the old fashion way. I hope I can get some help here. Thanks.

Firstly, I was holding the Shift key when I restarted my PC, and I tried to reset from there, but the problem was the same. In Command Prompt, I used the code 'reagentc /disable' to disable the recovery enviroment agent. Then I used the code 'reagentc /enable' I restarted my PC, and I tried to reset again but the same happened. I checked setupact file located in Sysreset, and a saw some errors. Do you want me to send the logs? Thanks.

  1. Open Start.
  2. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.
  3. Type the following command to perform a quick check and press Enter: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Once that is finished Report back any message that you receive. Keep the command window open in it type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.

Let us know of any messages.

Hi. Thanks for helping me even now... Merry Christmas to all :)

The component store is repairable.
The operation completed successfully.

OK, then run chkdsk/r
C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk/r
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

For the chkdsk results in post #14 > type Y and reboot > post images or share links displaying the chkdsk results into this thread

Problems found so far in this thread:

a) failure to reset Windows
b) failure to run scannow
c) component store corruption

If there are problems with chkdsk results then test the disk drive with Sea Tools for Windows (long generic test).

If there are no problems with chkdsk results then the most efficient method to return quickly to a new operating system and maintain files is a Windows custom installation.
A Windows custom installation is designed to install a fresh version of Windows and save files to Windows.old.
After the custom install, drivers, and applications must be reinstalled.
Important files are restored from Windows.old.

The result in many ways is similar to a reset save files.

Another option is to see if anybody has free time during the holiday season.
The time period is unknown but the OS may be able to be troubleshooted in the Windows Update forum.
