Hello,
This has occurred several times in the past and just recently after I followed your instructions on how to collect data. This is very annoying as the system unexpectedly shuts down when I close the lid. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Arsenio

I do not see anything that directly shows why the system is shutting down. What action is setup in your Power Options for when the lid is closed?

In that link, scroll down to the segment To choose when Windows dims and turns off the display and follow those instructions to find how your system manages closing the laptop lid

I see a number of errors related to your Search Index service.

  • I recommend you run a Disk Check with Automatically fix file system errors checked.

  • You should also reset your search indexing with the following steps:
    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Click Search programs and files
    3. Type Indexing Options and then hit Enter
    4. Click Rebuild
    5. Click OK

Are there no crashdumps in C:/Windows/Minidump directory? If there are, provide those for us.

Judging from the syslog, though, it doesn't look like there have actually been any BSODs, or at least nothing has been reported as an event, nor does it seem a crashdump has been made. To confirm we are indeed dealing with a BSOD and not some other form of crash, type "advanced system settings" in start menu, then go to Startup & Recovery, and make sure that the "Automatically restart" option is unchecked. Save changes then restart PC, then close the lid. If you open it back up and see a BSOD, report to us the contents. We'll need the bugcheck code (first number) and its subcodes (4 numbers in parentheses next to bugcheck code) and the name of any driver file it may list as possible cause.

If you do not get a BSOD, but your system restarts, then it means one of two things I can think of: you have a short in your laptop which occurs when the lid closes, or having the lid closed is overheating the system and causing it to automatically shut down. Either it's one of these or something else, but in any case, a problem like this can only occur by a hardware malfunction, which means getting out your warranty and coercing them to replace it for you.
