Hi all,

fighting with BSODs of different nature on and off for the past half year, and this is my last stop before a complete reinstall. I want to follow the instructions carefully, but it stops for me at the first instruction: Save these files in the Documents folder.

My Documents library is a library where my F drive, my dropbox and my F:/Temp are linked to. Where exactly do I save those files then? Anywhere there, or do I go to the C:/Users/etc. If so, do I save them in my user account or my administrator account?

Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit
System: MSI model MS-7522

Hi,

You'd save it to your OS' Documents folder, so for example if you search Documents in the Start search box, click the one that shows up.

Hi Patrick,

that's the thing. If I click on the Documents folder, I see 3 folders. "Documents" is a library, and you can assign custom locations to this. So 'the OS Documents folder' is not defined on my system. I take it I can save it just in a temp folder somewhere? I reckon I just have to make sure both files are in the same folder, or is their functionality dependent on the exact location? If so, I really need to know which exact folder I have to save it in, as I set the Documents library to another location.

Cheers

To tell you the truth I have never run into this issue, so I honestly am not sure if you can run the collection app from another directory other than Documents, as that may be where it's defined by the programming. You can try, and if it doesn't work, no use creating headaches for yourself. At that point, I would just manually navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump, and manually zip up any dump files there, and then attach the zip file here.

Thx, I'll try it out and let you know.

Hi Patrick,

small update: I've tried to run everything both in my user account from the F drive and in the administrator account from the "My Documents" folder. I didn't get any output folder as mentioned in the description. Been looking all over my drives, but no succes. So I collected everything manually. Works as well.

Cheers

Great, so can you please go ahead and attach the zip containing the crash dumps in your next post?

Regards,

Patrick
