Hi, Im really frustrated when I cant play any online games because of too High ping. GTA V is the most affected I keep getting kicked out. I checked out my internet speed and its well over the requirement for the game both upload and download speeds. One suggestion the support team made was to change my NAT settings to open and port forward a set of ports. But I cant seem to change my NAT settings to open.

Im using an MTS Mblaze 3G Dongle, Indian Carrier. It is quite fast and i get download speeds upto 3 mbps which is the most any Indian dongle can give.
The Dongle is custom made but by the tags on it I would say its

Make : LAVA
MEID:A1000039A8175B
SSID: MBLAZE-DF800i-A794

I dont even know if that's helpful.

Anyways if there is any way of getting by this, it would have been really helpful for me. I dont want to try any outside sources because the last time i did that my registry values got changed and I had to fix that.

Im also going to attach my ipconfig txt file and also a screenshot of my dongle setting screen
screenshot.jpg

I know there is an option for port forwarding but i dont what to fill in where to open the ports.

This is all a gray area for me as it have been a long time since messing with Port Following settings. This is because it is rarely needed with NAT supported systems so I really wonder if that is your problem here. Note too that enabling this feature can subject you to increase security risks.

To configure port forwarding you need to know what inbound ports the application needs.

You say your ping rates are too high. What are they? Ping Microsoft ? Official Home Page and what do you get?

What support team? You should probably contact your ISP.

Ok I know the ports the the application needs, when the problem persisted I had contacted the the Rockstar support team about it. They forwarded me to a particular site for port forwarding but my dongle was custom made by the ISP so it wasnt detected. Also I had send the screenshot of the settings page for my router. Is it posssible for me to do port forwarding by myself. If so could you please guide me through.

When I said ping I meant the latency.

I just dont know where to fill in what for opening the ports. But i do have the ports with me.

Since this is a custom made dongle, I think you need to contact the ISP for help or maybe instructions posted on line. And you might look into port triggering instead of port following. Are there any help screens in your device's admin menu? I note in my Netgear router, full instructions are provided which I will copy here. though yours will likely be a bit different.

Port Forwarding / Port Triggering Help

Port triggering is an advanced feature that you can use for gaming and other Internet applications. Port forwarding can typically be used to enable similar functionality, but it is static and has some limitations.

Port triggering opens an incoming port temporarily and does not require the server on the Internet to track your IP address if it is changed by DHCP, for example.

Port triggering monitors outbound traffic. When the router detects traffic on the specified outbound port, it remembers the IP address of the computer that sent the data and triggers the incoming port. Incoming traffic on the triggered port is then forwarded to the triggering computer.

Using the Port Forwarding / Port Triggering screen, you can make local computers or servers available to the Internet for different services (for example, FTP or HTTP), to play Internet games (like Quake III), or to use Internet applications (like CU-SeeMe).

Port forwarding is designed for FTP, Web server, or other server-based services. Once port forwarding is set up, requests from the Internet are forwarded to the proper server.

Port triggering allows requests from the Internet only after a designated port is triggered. Port triggering applies to chat and Internet games.

Port Triggering

Note: If Disable Port Triggering box is checked, all port triggering function will be disabled but the configuration information will remain in the router.

Port Triggering Timeout

Enter a value up to 9999 minutes. The Port Triggering Timeout value controls the inactivity timer for the designated inbound port(s). The inbound port(s) will be closed when the inactivity timer expires.

For Internet Games or Applications

Before starting, you'll need to know which service, application or game you'll be configuring. Also, you'll need to have the outbound port ( triggering port ) address for this game or application.

To setup a computer to play Internet games or use Internet applications:
1. Click Add Service button.
2. Enter a service name in the Service Name box.
3. Under Service User, select Any (default) will allow this service to be used by everyone in your network. Otherwise, select Single address and enter the PC's IP address to restrict the service to a particular PC.
4. Select Service Type.
5. Enter the outbound port number in Triggering Port box.
6. Enter the inbound connection port information such as Connection Type, Starting Port and Ending Port boxes. These information can be obtained from the game or applications manual or support website.
7. Click Apply button.

To modify a service entry:
1. Select the entry's radio button of the table.
2. Click Edit Service.
3. Modify the service.
4. Click Apply button.

To delete a service entry:
1. Select the entry's radio button of the table.
2. Click Delete Service button.

Hmmm I dont think the instructions are of any help as my settings are totally help but it has got me somewhere. Im just confused on where to add the ports because I have column for WAN and for local and not incoming and outgoing.

There are no instructions on the internet for my router sadly.

I have sent an email to my ISP regarding this issue hope then can fix it. If not I will just onto to a better ISP.

Thanks

Hi Donkiller. :smile9:
Most of the routers have got similar settings and software.
The most important functions for port forwarding are usually three:
- DHCP: where you can reserve an ip address for your device (avoiding to set a static ip in the tcp/ip properties of your active network card)... When that's present.
- Firewall: where you can disable the firewall completely, or blocking ALL connections, or use the standard settings (block everything except your port forwarding rules)... When that's present.
- Port forward/virtual server/NAT/...: where you can set the rules for the port forwarding.

You can post here the screenshots of those three functions and probably we will able to set them.

Clearly my ISP was ripping me off and Im glad I changed it. Now Im using a better ISP and it has PORT triggering as an option which helped me a lot. Thanks for the help guys. The ISP i was using didnt have any settings that were useful. Just so people will know I was using MTS ultra WIFI.
