The program LiveComm.exe version 17.4.9600.16384 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Every time I boot I get this among other errors in Event Viewer under Applications.

The error is likely related to the Mail Windows App, though that module might perform tasks for related apps as well (the Win8 People app is another likely user). I think there were quite a few updates recently -- Why not try visiting the Windows Store (using the Windows 8 Windows Store app) and grabbing the updates for your apps. Unfortunately, it seems the updates for those apps have to be installed from the Windows Store (so far, I haven't seen their updates show up in the regular Windows Updates ... very inconvenient).

See if that helps at all.

[... and howdy to J.C. Griffith! ... I'm visiting the last few days, since 8.1 is out]

I'm going to blow away the Windows 8.1 and go back to 8. I have an image or 2 from prior to the upgrade. I understand Microsoft knew of these problems that others have complained about after the upgrade to 8.1 and pulled the upgrade on the 19th, just a little too late for me. If I have too, I will start from the MFG image and rebuild it, i'm just hoping my images work and I can start with 8 and where I left off. If I find I still have these problems then I will contact my computer company and have them replace it. Thanks you for you help. Just to let you know what ever was affecting my Microsoft updating was starting to work on my other programs auto updates as well. No virus, but just getting worse and worse, I tried to load MS Travel and Maps 2013 and the auto updater would not load and now my ESET antivirus will not update and all due to permissions issues.

Most images work pretty well these days - hopefully you'll be back to normal speeds and operations fairly soon.

I too have noticed more and more issues with file permissions in the last week, most related to Windows 8 apps, or to the 8.1 upgrade. I haven't seen this before from a major update, things are usually tested out very thoroughly before release. I'm a little at a loss to understand Microsoft's tossing and pitching about - they've been making some strange decisions lately, whereas had they just stuck to their historical posture of flexibility & wide choices for their customers, they'd be in great shape. [There's no reason they couldn't have provided the ability to switch between the standard desktop (with Start Menu & windowing) and the touch-oriented Start-Screen interface --- really: Ubuntu allows users to switch between these two styles with a single click].

I'm going to test the 8.1 update this weekend. I've been telling my customers to wait a week or two, and see if any major errors pop up (& get fixed) -- and until after I give it a thorough test myself. As the famous Dr. Who says, then it's "Geronimo!".

Best of luck

I have no idea what I did but now instead of getting a ERROR I started to get Warnings. Now I get only one of those each time I boot. I have fixed all my DCOM errors and once you know they are permission issues with the DCOM APID and CLID and how to take out the Trusted installer as the owner and ad full permissions to Administrators and your self, and add full control to Network and Local services, the problems start disappearing. The answer in DCOM problems is in the Error itself. I found out how to stop SCHANNEL error from being reported and now I have a FEW Perflib and Perfnet errors which I will post and my computer will be Virtually error free (as far as any computer is error free). Even if I don't solve the Performance reporting errors I'm still alot happier as my computer is running much faster and I'm not experiencing any real problems with it. If any one need help with the DCOM errors I can help. Now I will post the Perflib errors in a new forum listing and see if someone has found an answer.

Happy hunting.
