Well found this forum pretty much by accident while googling my problem, wow am impressed with the quality of the answers, (so many forums seem to have replies like oh try this then this if that doesn't work try this hmmm) but my exact problem was in a recent post and i could tell just by looking at the reply he knew what he was talking about and not just "trying" things. Am an "electronic nut" from about 13 yrs of age, used to fix tv's, stereos, radio's etc and found computers were so easy (hardware and DOS 3.3 at least) were much easier than i thought they would be, especially as in the day we used to do component level repair of the previous. I cut my teeth on valve radios, (5y3, 6v6, 6u7, 6j7, 80, 46, etc) then later transistors bc109, 2N3055 etc. lol sure am showing my age but still love em.
Funny thing my first computer was a trash 80 (TRS80) wanted to send programs over the CB band talked to the local "expert" he said it couldn't be done, well that was like a red flag to a bull, lol ended up doing it with 85 cents of components, mind you that did get me a visit from the local RI (Radio Inspector) anyway in the end we became best of friends ( he was also a VK, amateur radio operator) and if i got a repair that i just couldn't work out what was wrong he would help me out, he wouldn't tell me what was wrong but give me hints on what i should look at..... hmm starting to dribble now so will end it here... lol :lol:
