i have lately started to experience stutters and popping sounds on my computer out of nowhere. I have tried to troubleshoot the problem but seem to have no luck fixing it. i looked up how to see my diagnostic information and I got told to use latencymon, while using it I found out I was getting a really high measured interrupt to process latency and I cant find the root cause of it.

here is the conclusion the software found:

any help or insights on how to fix the problem are much appreciated.
thank you in advance, Itamar

i have tried running directx end-user runtime web installer and it seems to help with the problem but not fix it. i still get high interrupt to process latency (2693.70) and I don't really have an idea on how to fix it

new latencymon conclusion:

Hi!

The purpose of the first three steps is to have a sort of parachute in case something goes wrong after using potentially dangerous commands later (after the simpler steps):
  • Enable the automatic system registry backup (to c:\windows\system32\config\RegBack).

  • Create a system restore point.

  • Create a system image, backup your important files, passwords, licence keys.

  • In the command prompt (admin), type (copy/paste): cleanmgr /sageset:1
A cleanmgr window will be presented, in which you can choose the items to be deleted. I'd select them all...
To start the cleanup, you need to launch this other command: cleanmgr /sagerun:1
And the cleanup will start: wait until it finishes.
  • In the command prompt (admin), type (copy/paste): Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
If the result is No component store corruption detected, then launch this other command: dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase
Otherwise, don't run this second command and let me know the result of the first one.
  • Download and install iobit driver booster free.
Open it, click tools, click Clean invalid device data, scan, clean, close.
Use only this function of it.
  • In the command prompt (admin), type (copy/paste): chkdsk c: /scan /perf
    Wait until it finishes.
If Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems, let me know it.
    Otherwise, post the result.
  • Reboot and see if something changed.
If It doesn't, launch SFC /scannow from an elevated command prompt, wait until it finishes and post its result.
  • Post some logs: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 8

the result for the command: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth was no component store corruption detected.

after the command: chkdsk c: /scan /perf it said windows has scanned the file system and found no problems

I have attached the logs down below. i will run latencymon for 10 minutes and update you with the results.

thank you for the helping hand!

Update:

the problem seems to have gotten worse in my opinion as the high interrupt to process latency has spiked in a shorter time frame with a more dramatic spike.

will doing a fresh windows install help?

i will probably not be able to respond to you today as I need to go to sleep in a bit but I will be happy if you could stay with me at least until tomorrow so I can at least try to solve the problem

That one was Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth that lasts very few seconds.

The other one should last a few of minutes: dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase

yes, although i am not really sure I did system image correctly as it was kind of complicated

If something bad happens, you need it.
Macrium saves your current settings and programs and so forth in an OS image, but you will not be able to (re-)apply the image if you haven't the macrium recovery media.

the question is do you have a fix for my problem that can solve it or will I have to do a system reinstall to fix it
\\

or even a system reinstall wouldnt help

i do have to go to sleep right now so I hope we could continue this conversation tomorrow, thank you so much for the help up until this point!.

I restored my system and i hope the problem will be fixed. if i find the will in myself to trying to solve the issue if it rises would you be able/willing to continue helping me?

hello again xilolee, i wanted to give a quick update that might be able to help people.

i have noticed that i had a major improvement in my dpc/isr latency after using two softwares - park control and power settings explorer

in park control i have applied these settings on the bitsum highest performance power plan:

finally, on power settings explorer i have unchecked both of these settings:

after these two settings were unchecked i went over the the advanced power settings in this directory - Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings.
and two additional settings were present which then i turned to 100% and applied:

i dont really know if the problem is fully solved tho it seems that there is a little more then two times less dpc and isr latency then before these changes were made.

also i have found that now if dpc latency spikes it is due to ntoskrnl.exe driver and i would like to know if you got any fixes for it.

thank you in advance, Itamar.

also i have noticed that now i only get high dpc latency and it is supposedly caused because of both the ntoskrnl.exe driver and nvlddmkm.sys driver any ideas?
