Hi and greetings from this side of the pond to all (London). Nice forum this.

I'm wondering if anyone might kindly care to try and help me figure out what's going on here?
Just installed Foobar2000 to replace Winamp 2.8 + MEXP, an ancient library plugin (long story).
Love Foobar2000 - just what I want for local content; simple with few bells and whistles.

But now am getting dropout.

I used dpclat and verified that this was a DCP Latency Issue.
Then I systematically disabled drivers to try and find the cause with no luck.

I then found and followed niemiro's excellent thread and found that Windows Update might be the culprit so I turned off auto updates and disabled the service just in case it should try to start.
I still get drivers in the "actual duration" column that seem to be Win Update processes! Anyone know why? Help appreciated.

System is old P4 machine. Intel D865GLC Mobo and 4Gb RAM. Win 7 Ultimate 32bit.
Using Foobar2000 with no other appz running and no visualisations.
Has been playing music fine with ancient version of Winamp up 'till now.
Foobar playback thread priority set to "7" (highest) in prefs.

Welcome to Sysnative!

Although portcls.sys is from Windows Update, I'm pretty sure it's tied into the (AC'97?) audio drivers. (Old stuff on portcls.sys) Intel's XP drivers for the 'board are described as: "Integrated audio driver for IntelĀ® Desktop Boards using AC '97 processing with the Analog Devices (ADI) codec".

I don't see any Vista or W7 drivers from Intel for this discontinued 'board. It initially feels like a 'bad' combo of driver and player.

Do you hear the same problems when running other 3rd party audio players ('good' free ones)?
