What if you completely remove the device (including the drivers) from Device Manager, reboot the computer and let Windows Update to install the default driver? I have an HP computer running Windows 7 and having this exact same network adapter installed - there are no issues using default drivers from Microsoft (their release date seems to be the same, but they do not include all the Intel extensions).
