Hi,
Just after my last post I lost all restore points and the system became increasingly unstable, so I ended up restoring from a very old backup (prior to the original Windows Update issue referred to in Post #1) and then re-applying windows updates again.
The Windows Update issue did not re-occur (thankfully), but the SENS issue did occur again after one of the updates. I rolled the offending update back using the restore point created by the update to fix the SENS issue, and re-applied the update again. After re-applying the update, and several others subsequently, the SENS issue has not re-occurred and the system has remained stable.
While rolling back to a restore point seems to work for me, it doesn't explain why the SENS issue occurs randomly after some Windows Updates nor why using restore points fixes the issue. Looking at other users' posts on the internet about the SENS issue, the problem seems to be somewhat common but no one has been able to identify the root cause.
So, given my system is working again and the issue is gone (at least for now), you can close this case.
Thanks for your help.
