I need help in repairing my corrupted CNBJ2530.DPB file on my old laptop that uses a Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit

I can provide the CBS log file and the sfcfix log file

Hi tga1992. 🖖

It seems the file was fixed by the sfc tool (i.e., "sfc /scannow" launched from an elevated command prompt).
You can confirm it by re-running it (sfc tool).

You can check the tutorial about this particular file: [Win8/8.1] GUIDE: CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf Corruptions

In my experience, that file will continue to corrupt itself on its own.
Even after a few of days.
If I were you, I'd ignore that error in the future.

To solve this problem on my own and in few seconds, I copied the file in another location and wrote a batch file to copy the backup to its default location (becoming the file owner, getting full access, replacing the file, giving ownership to trustedinstaller, removing permissions given to my user).

Another possible workaround is to remove all permissions to write the file: just read.

I did the SFC because I sometimes used to get a BSOD with APC INDEX MISMATCH error while using the laptop
It has now resolved probably as I havent seen that happening anymore

But now my Windows Time wont do an internet sync with an error "an error occurred getting the status of the last synchronization access is denied"

and also at times while starting the laptop it goes to screen which says no boot device found boot failed but after a few minutes if I again start the machine it boots okay

Hi!

Has the hard drive been tested?

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to check your SMART status with GSmartControl:

  • Download the portable version of GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the zip file to your Desktop. Open the folder gsmartcontrol-1.1.3-win64 which should be located on your Desktop and double-click gsmartcontrol.exe to launch the program.
  • Identify your drive in the list (if recognized by the tool), and hover your mouse over it.
  • You should see something called: SMART status. It will either read: Enabled, in which case you should do the following:
  • Double-click on it to bring up its window (usually you'll find your drive by its size or its brand name);
  • Go to the Self-Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply or take a screenshot;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
  • Please note: If the SMART Status reads: Unsupported, stop and let me know.

Hi! Your drive is unfortunately failing and needs to be replaced with a new one. Once you do that, please reinstall the OS from scratch as this install is no longer considered reliable.
