Hi, after some time spent lurking I decided to register to Sysnative community. I'm mid twenties sysadmin focused on SCCM / Powershell and the main reason for joining is that I'm currently working on project aimed to stabilize patching on Win servers. So hello there
PS: In order to use this post at it's max potential - I couldn't find any real deep dive detailed description of how Windows Update works. I've tried numerous blog sites, Mark Russinovich's otherwise brilliant Windows Internals (both parts) and I don't honestly know where to find information about how Windows Update works under the hood. Maybe my Google-fu is not up to the task. I pretty much understand the SCCM / WSUS side of the deal but from the moment the update is executed it is black magic for me (where / why / what it modifies in the system). Most of the time even reading through the CBS.log is just like "mhm, error 0xXXXXXXX, nice - let's google multiple pages of re-image your PC advice".
