Hi,

I have a Win 7 Home SP1 running on HP Mini.
I had not used it for a while and decided to install windows updates before starting to use the computer again. Initially I had some difficulty getting windows update to work but eventually I downloaded a tool from Microsoft which fixed the problem.
All in all I had about 250 updates to install. All except 11 installed successfully. These 11 include KB3080149, KB3068708, KB3126587, KB3071756, KB3061518, KB3060716, KB3042058, KB3011780, KB3003743, KB2984972, KB2871997.
I get error 80070490.
I followed the steps you suggest prior to posting a thread. The only abnormal message I got was when running SFCFix, I got an error pop up which I didn't write down since I assumed the logs would catch it. It mentions something like MSCVS.dll is missing.
Here is the SFCFix log (which didn't mention the error):

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.

Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - x86

Hi,

That's exactly what I did.
I attempted to install 1 update and when it failed, I collected the CBS log without rebooting.

Thanks,

M

Actually, do the following instead:

Remove Update Manually
1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:2973351

4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

Hi,

Sorry, I hadn't seen your last post before replying a few minutes ago.
Did as instructed. System returned "The update KB2973351 is not installed on this computer"

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and choose Control Panel.
2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
3. Select the Programs group.
4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Windows Features dialog. Wait until this dialog populates with information.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps.
5. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
6. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
7. Copy and paste
KB2973351 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
8. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.
9. You may close any remaining open windows now.

Hi,

I just want to double check. The instructions say to get the 64 bit version. My system is 32 bit. Is that a problem?

Thanks,

M

FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
2. Run FRST by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
4. When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
5. Try updating and attach CBS.log if any fail.
