[SOLVED] Having had problems with update KB3045171 ... still sfc issues

Hi guys,
as I was at first having some problems with KB3045171 on a Dell Vostro 260 with 8 GB RAM running under Windows 7 - 64bit, I´ve checked
1. fc /scannow
2. CheckSUR
3. SFCFix

Attached, you will find the CBS.zip

I should mention that the PC had some issues with the harddisk: that was defective and had to be exchanged ... and due to the work of the account department, I had to clone the new drive from the defective drive. :eek4:

Follow the instructions below to download and execute a SFCFix fix, and provide the log.
  • Download SFCFix and move the executable on your Desktop;
  • Download the attached SFCFix.zip and move the archive to your Desktop;
    Note: Make sure that the file is named SFCFix.zip, do not rename it.
  • Save any work you have open, and close every programs;
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip archive file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it;

Thank you for the typo notification, I corrected it in my canned :) Since the CBS.log is returning a lot of errors, we'll try to narrow them down first with SURT and a CheckSUR.log. Follow the instructions below please.

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) - Fix
Follow the instructions below to fix the errors reported by the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT);
  • Download the attached archive file, Packs.zip and save it on your Desktop;
  • Once it's downloaded, right-click on it and select Extract All...;
  • Check the Show extracted files when complete checkbox, and click on Extract;
  • On completion, a folder will open with two folders inside it, Manifests and Packages;
    • Copy and paste the files of the Manifests folder inside C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\winsxs\Manifests
    • Copy and paste the files of the Packages folder inside C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\servicing\Packages
  • Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again;
  • On completion, attach the log located at C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply;

Yes, you´re absolutely right: the Point is it, whether or not the update is behavingly correctly.
The good news: the one critical or important update was running flawlessly! :-)

The slight backdrop: Windows Update still wants to install an optional update and is unsuccsessful doing so: The update concerned is

Personally I avoid installing drivers from the Windows Update (even less if they are WDDM) since they can cause issues and are less performant than the ones from the manufacturer. If you want, you can right-click on that update and select the Hide option.

If there's no more issues, I'll mark this thread as "solved" :)
 
Yes, I´ve read in some other threats concerning driver-problems from Windows Update.
"Hide", that was the word, I was looking for - not "ignore". That's what I did with this update and yes: Thread "solved".
