Hello,

I have problem with anti aliasing settings of gpu. Suddenly its not working in any games. I have shimmering edges, Z-Fighting. 8x MSAA looks there is no AA. Everything was working great before in all games. Games looks ****. When i search internet, people tried many many things but no success. Do you have any idea what can causes this and is there any fix.

Next week ill bring my gpu to friends home and test it at there.

Example video: anti aliasing problem [GTX 97] - YouTube (video not by me) All games have these issues. World of Warcraft, Spintires, GTA, Skyrim, CSGO, BF4, Elder Scroll Online.

CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.5hz (default no success)
GPU: Galax 970 HOF (different drivers no success)
MB: Asus Ranger Vii (latest)
Memory: Gskill 2400 (default no success)
PSU: EVGA 850 B2
144Hz Mon (i have tried other Hz but no success)
W10 (latest)

Thanks for your ideas.

Everything was working great before in all games.
When did the problem start? You said different drivers, do you mean you rolled back to a previous graphics driver used when it was working and it still does not work properly? Also, you might try resetting any custom settings and timings.

It is the warmer summer months (at least for the northern hemisphere) and ambient (room) temps can influence all sorts of things. Make sure the interior of your computer is clean of heat trapping dust and all your fans are spinning properly. Consider blasting a desk fan into the open side and see what happens.

And while I happen to be a big fan of EVGA PSUs, I still always like to swap in a known good one just to make sure it is not a power issue.

Thanks for reply. I really didn't know the exact time that it started because i'm playing only Diablo 3 for 2 months. Diablo isn't fan of anti aliasing. I realised it when i open the GTA V.

Thermal values of my system is optimal but i cleaned my whole pc today, btw my system is new its 11 months old. I opened my EVGA psu after 3 days when i bought it because psu fan had annoying sound and changed it with corsair fan. I couldnt RMA it because i bought it from Amazon that model doesn't exist in here and i didnt want to send it via post, payment was very high.

I will test it with my friends pc parts at the weekend especially with psu. Yes i rolled back to driver that i know it was ok but i used DDU. I tried cpu and memory default settings but problem still persists.

I didnt format my computer because people said its not working.

Well, you certainly voided your PSU warranty by opening it's case and swapping fans. Note your graphics card should still be under warranty too, if only 11 months old. But you may need to act fast.

I didnt format my computer because people said its not working.
I don't understand what you mean there but formatting and reinstalling Windows should always be a very last resort option.

Hi again, i forgot to say you, the issue happened after reinstalling Windows so i tried it again today but nothing happened. I couldnt wait till weekend and ill visit my friend tonight. We will replace and try pc parts to find which one is failing. I hope we get a solution.

Something strange happened yesterday, when we opened game from my HDD on my friend's pc game has shimmering, shadow flickering and aa problems but from his hdd same game looks perfect. We opened game together and windowed mode. One looks bad other looks great. Game was World of Warcraft. We thought we found the problem and it was HDD. When i came to home i used my SSD reformatted and partitioned, only windows, nvidia driver and unigine. All downloaded from internet and official. But problem persist. So theory boomed.

I changed graphic Card too with 560GTX and looks bad.

This weekend we will try another things again and ill update in here. We are brainstorming.

A drive should not be causing any visual anomalies like shimmering.

I was going to suggest a different graphics card, but I see now you did that.

So if me, I would swap in a known good PSU and see what happens.

Thanks Digerati, i commented to famous thread about this issue (this thread is hided by Nvidia) and share my comment in here too. Take a look. I'll try with PSU this weekend. Some people changed psu cpu mobo but nothing was solution. I concern about rootkits that hide in my hardware.

Still no fix. I dont know what to do. Just stay infront of computer all day and think what can i do. I cant play anything. Everything looks crap.

It's not about graphic card. I changed gpus but no success.

Last thing i remember before i got this issue, while i was watching video on youtube, after 1 minute or 2 mins, video was stuttering until i moved the mouse. Then i realised it was happening too in everywhere until i moved the mouse so i thought it was a virus (Bitcoin or Miner etc.) and i reformatted my computer with a new OS and BOOM. Shimmering, Flickering shadows, and AA problems. I was using ENB in all games too. Skyrim, World of Warcraft, Battlefield 4.

"that virus taking control of PC while i was away and do its own."

Yesterday, i moved to my friends home with my computer and we did some trial and error things. Replace GPU etc. But something strange happened. i gave my HDD(games) to my friend to open World of Warcraft. He started the game and we saw the all symptoms that i have but he started World of Warcraft from his HDD, everything looks perfect. We started 2 windows mode game at the same time and side by side. One game has all symptoms, other one is perfect. We thought the problem was from HDD. When i returned to my home I de-attached my other HDDs and i tried clean install Windows on my SSD (erased and repartitioned). I had only Windows 10, official nvidia driver (362.00) and new downloaded unigine heaven. But i had all symptoms. So theory went away. We will try again this weekend. Ill let you know.

I have this issue for 2 weeks.

I have suggested twice above to try a different PSU. That advice still stands. So for a 3rd time, I recommend you swap in a known good PSU and see what happens. You need to eliminate potential power problems from the equation. All the other devices in the computer depend on good, clean, stable power.

What does "Memory - no solution" mean? How did you eliminate RAM as the problem?

You said "Thermal values of my system is optimal" but that does not tell me anything. I don't know what components you are monitoring, with what, or what those values are. So what are they? And once again, I recommend you open the side panel and blast a desk fan in there to see what happens. There are dozens of heat sensitive components in a computer.

We will seperate the Motherboard from case and will try like that.
If it used to work fine while mounted in the case, that is probably not necessary and risks further damage through undetectable but very destructive ESD (electrostatic discharge) damage. If it has not worked properly mounted in the case, then this may be a good idea, just make sure you take the necessary ESD prevention precautions.

According to HWMonitor, your temps (and voltages) all look good - at least at the time of that sample taking. So that is good, though as I noted, there are other heat sensitive devices in a computer that are not monitored.

And none of these hardware monitoring programs check for excessive ripple and other anomalies that affect computer stability. This is done by a qualified technician using an oscilloscope or power supply analyzer - sophisticated (and expensive) electronic test equipment requiring special training to operate, and a basic knowledge of electronics theory to understand the results. Therefore, conclusively testing a power supply is done in properly equipped electronics repair facilities. For the "normal" user, this leaves swapping in a known good supply to see if the problem persists.

Damage due to ESD would not likely cause problems that come and go. While damage by ESD is not always immediately apparent, the symptoms tend to be consistent. That said, because a static discharge through an ESD sensitive device (like processors, memory modules and other high-density ICs) is like a monster lightning bolt torching a Grand Canyon sized trench (microscopically speaking) through 100s or 1000s of transistor gates, the damage is typically immediate and obvious - the device no longer works, at all.

But, electricity is fickle, if not magical so I cannot say it is impossible - just not likely in this case.
