Several days ago, Microsoft announced that its Bing Maps division had completed the United States portion of its high resolution image project. Today, Google announced that it had also increased the amount of high res imagery for both Google Maps and Google Earth.
In a post on the Google Maps blog, the company said, "Google Maps and Earth now feature updated aerial imagery for more than 20 locations, and updated satellite imagery for more than 60 regions." The company later put in an update that said the images were just available for Google Earth but would be added to Google Maps "shortly".
