Getting update error code 80070490 on handful of updates - No Install DVD

Hi! Subject is self-explanatory and I do not have a Windows 7 install DVD as I got my laptop second hand. So far, I have repaired WU dll (attempted to) ran two MS fixits and attempted to restore security settings to default. Basically, I've tried a hodge-podge of seemingly innocuous advise from the internet (because it's never wrong. :lol:)

How did you go with uploading the CBS Folder?

If uploading the file using SFCFix didn't work, please upload via Dropbox or ge.tt

SFC /SCANNOW

Click on the

button. Inside the search box type in CMD
Right click on CMD => Choose Run as Administrator
Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following command SFC /SCANNOW
Please wait for this to Finish before continuing with the rest of the steps.

Convert CBS.log to CBS.txt

Click on the

button => Inside the search box copy and paste the following command:

cmd /c copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
```
Press Enter
Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or ge.tt

Hi James,

There is no real indication as to why these updates are failing.

Windows Update Log

Right click on the

button
Click on Run Inside the Run box copy and paste the following command
cmd /c copy %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.txt"
Please go to your desktop and attach WindowsUpdate.txt to your next post

I tried an update again just to see if maybe the issue had self-resolved. No dice. So, per your instructions, please find the text file attached. Thanks for your help!

Hello James

There may be a connection issue with your computer is having with communicating to Windows Updates.

Do you have Norton AntiVirus or any other Symantec products installed? If you do please uninstall it from Add\Remove Programs then run the Norton Removal Tool.

Once this is done, either use a thew Windows Default or download one like AntiVir
