I experience blue screen crashes once or twice on most days, not all. I seem to have the correct settings to run mini-dumps, but they just don't happen. As far as I can tell, my hard drive is in good shape. I'm hoping someone here can help me resolve this.

Thanks much.

I ran the driver verifier program. Although it did result in a Verifier-
enabled BSOD, it also DID write a minidump file! This is the first time to
my knowledge that minidumps have worked on my computer. I'll upload the
minidump file, called 051114-66378-01.zip.

Thanks much to anyone who is trying to help me out with this BSOD problem.

Hi Al,

The attached DMP file is of the DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4) bug check.

This is the general bug check code for fatal errors found by Driver Verifier.

timntr.sys
is the problematic driver which is - Acronis True Image Backup Archive Explorer, also included in Seagate DiscWizard.

Uninstall either ASAP.

Apparently, at this time, the problem turns out to NOT be solved yet, as I recently experienced another BSOD. Also, unfortunately, the windows/minidump folder is empty.

I'll run the driver verifier program again and will post/upload any results I get.

Thanks much in advance for any continued help that can be offered.

The bluescreen message is below.

Al C.

IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
STOP: 0x0000000A (0x000000001EFB60, 0x000000000000000F, 0x0000000000000001, 0xFFFFFB0003426B07)

The Driver Verifier program has been running for 8 hours now, with no crashes yet. However, I notice that there are problems showing on the driver verifier status page:

dump_diskdump.sys: never loaded
nvbridge.kmd: never loaded

Let me know when the system crashes next/upload the verifier crashed dump.

Regards,

Patrick

Let it crash again with verifier enabled. If it doesn't generate a minidump again, we'll move onto Memtest.

Patrick

Ah, good news, looks like a driver : )

avgrkx64.sys called into MmMapIoSpace, which called to map, however, avgrkx64.sys hasn't locked down the pages. avgrkx64.sys is the AVG Anti-Rootkit driver.

Patrick,

I wasn't sure if you wanted me to keep Driver Verifier running or not, but I went ahead and restarted it after I found that it was not running after a restart following a Windows Update. (The Windows Update problem described in that forum persists.)

The computer has been running about 30-36 hours now since my most recent restart, with the largest counter numbers in the Driver Verifier Manager window at around 2.6 billion. No crashes yet.

However, the computer is running so slowly in IE and Firefox that it is virtually unusable. (I'm posting this from a different computer.) Would this be because of Driver Verifier?

Thanks again for your help.

I did not want you to keep it running, no. My apologies, I should have elaborated. Please disable verifier. Also, I've marked your thread as solved. You've gone long without a crash, and with DV enabled.

To answer your question, yes, verifier is causing the slowness. Disable it.

Regards,

Patrick
