Forever saying "restart you computer to finish installing important updates"

I am currtently running Windows 7 SP1 and my Windows Update is forever saying "restart your computer to finish installing important updates" and no matter how many times I restart my computer nothing ever happens. I have been searching for hours through so many different websites and forums following every single different instruction. As well as this in task manager I have a process named "SVCHOST" which is constantly running, using up 50% of my CPU and I have linked this to the service "wuauserv" as my CPU goes back down to around 5% if I right click and stop service.

I have tried running the Windows Update Troubleshooter to no avail, I get the following messages:
Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2016-04-15-T-03_57_27A) - Not fixed
Service registration is missing or corrupt - Fixed
Problems installing recent updates - Fixed
Problems installing recent updates - Fixed

I have tried running Windows Update Fixit to no avail

I have also tried running SURT which didn't work either, but I got this log:
=================================
Checking System Update Readiness.
Binary Version 6.1.7601.22471
Package Version 26.0
2016-04-15 01:38

Checking Windows Servicing Packages

Checking Package Manifests and Catalogs

Checking Package Watchlist

Checking Component Watchlist

Checking Packages

Checking Component Store

Seconds executed: 1035
No errors detected

Finally I also tried manually downloading and installing KB3050265 which was suggested might work but it didn't appear to do anything either.

Re: Forever saying "restart you computer to finish installing important updates"

Good! Now if you restart your computer, do you still get the same message after?

Re: Forever saying "restart you computer to finish installing important updates"

Thank you so much, that seems to have fixed it. After restarting my computer Windows Update allowed me to check for updates, there were a couple of optional updates and one important update (KB3147071 if that means anything to you?) which all downloaded and installed without any problems. :)

Re: Forever saying "restart you computer to finish installing important updates"

I don't know all the KBs on the tip of my tongue, but here's what I found for the KB3147071 :)

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/3147071

And I'm glad to see that your issue has been solved :)
