Hello,

This is my first post. I am struggling with an issue with my laptop which has windows 8. Every few weeks or months, when my computer restarts or I boot up, I get a 'No boot device found. Press any key to reboot the machine'. My normal cause of action is to put in the windows 8 DVD and to automatic repair which fixes it everytime. But the issue comes back after random number of days. So I ran the SFC /Scannow and it says some files are corrupted. After googling about this, I found SFCFix.exe which has given some promise but it is not able to fix it. Here is the log.

Can anyone help me?

Those files are incorrectly detected by SFC as corrupt and should not cause any problems.

Failing to boot may indicate hardware problems, so let's check that first.

Download Speccy Portable here: https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/portable
Extract it, then run Speccy.

Follow the instructions here to publish a snapshot: https://www.piriform.com/docs/speccy/using-speccy/publishing-a-speccy-profile-to-the-web

Include the link with your reply so I can review the SMART status of your disk.

I see you have a Samsung 840 Pro SSD. There is a firmware update available that may resolve your problem.
Download and install the Samsung Magician software here:http://ssd.samsungsemi.com/ecomobile/ssd/update1.do?fname=/Samsung_Magician_Setup_v46.zip
In Samsung Magician, check for and install the available firmware update (should be DXM06B0Q).

Since you have been experiencing problems with your drive, make sure you have a good backup of any important data on your computer.

Is it a known bug, or are you suggesting a general tip?

The release notes say that it improves compatibility with laptops, so it may fix your problem - no guarantees though :)

I would also recommend updating your Dell Inspiron 17 BIOS to the latest version, A09 -> A13 as the release notes indicate this also fixes some boot configuration related problems.
