Hello,

I'm getting error 0x800f0831 when attempting to add or remove features in Windows Server 2016 Std. Also receiving the Error: "1734 The array bounds are invalid" when running "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth".
Server has only the German language pack installed and is a DC in the network.
Attached CBS-Folder, dism.log and Componentscanner.txt

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Geben Sie mit der Option "Quelle" den Ort der Dateien an, die zum Wiederherstellen des Features erforderlich sind. Weitere Informationen zum Angeben eines Quellorts finden Sie unter "Configure a Windows Repair Source".

But Removal of Features now works. Since Server will be decomissioned in 2 weeks anyway and Server has successfully been demoted to member, I don't need further assistance.

Thank you for your help

You're welcome. But what exactly do you mean by demoted to member? If the server is still being used for other things it might be worth to look at the latest error as well?

Server was an old DC running as Secondary while the switch to a new Server 2022 DC happend. There is nothing crucial on the Server anymore and it will be wiped in 2 weeks anyway. My main Concern was that I couldnt demote the Server from DC to normal Domain Member before taking it offline, since some AD-Features couldnt be removed.

Ah, thanks that explains a lot! I will mark this thread as solved then. (y)
