Fast and fluid animations bring apps to life.
In Windows 8 Consumer Preview, you will notice that animations are an integral part of the user experience.
When you log in to your PC, the items in the Start menu animate in.
When you launch an immersive app or zoom into the Start menu, the experience is enriched with a smooth animation.
Animations can tell the user what happened as a result of a specific action.
This visual feedback instills user confidence in the app’s responsiveness.

There's lots of preset animation libraries in the Windows SDK as well for things like this which make it easy to develop a Metro style app. I just don't like having to work with WPF.

I would agree, doesn't really make anything more useful. However the average computer intelligence of the average consumer doesn't know that lol. They probably just think "ooh nice animations.." and if thier computer is acting up "oh yeah, this computer is broken"

This whole visual thing has gone a bit too obsessed about in my opinion, although i'm not against the metro styling, I think it's just over hyped about. It's going to remind me of that "Friday" song.. :r1:
