Failure to configure Windows update

I have tried all the work around that they suggest but I cannot get my computer to boot out of this screen.

I have a Windows 7 professional on a HP Pavilion dv6

- Can you provide more details ? Aren't you able to change any settings ? Does searching for updates take forever ? Or is something else happening ?
