Hello,

I'm having issues installing May updates on Server 2008 R2
Ran sfc /scannow - no issues found
Ran SURT which showed a large number of these issues:
(f) CSI Missing Deployment Key 0x00000000 85ac31a8dd9..c93b7d3c6ce_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.18804_4e0050898b85214c HKLM\Components\CanonicalData\Deployments
Ran SFCFix which cleared all the above issues
Confirmed this by running SURT again - no errors detected
But still can't install Windows Updates (downloading and installing directly from Microsoft Catalog) - still getting 'failure configuring Windows update, reverting changing..'
Please find CBS folder:
CBS

Thanks in advance!

Cindy

Hi!

Please do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Hi again,
No neither of those are enabled on the servers. Its a VMware server though.

Thanks again. Two of those updates weren't installed and are now. But still can't install Windows Updates so looks like ESU MAC needs to be installed and activated as mentioned in the article. We use KMS and cloned machines (Citrix golden image and target devices) so this sounds like a convoluted process

Sorry I've just been told we aren't going to be purchasing the ESU so I gather that's why I'm having trouble with installs. I did get the May Servicing stack (KB4555449) installed so this must work for non ESU customers.

I think that the reason SSU was installed is the fact that it is a critical update, while the quality rollups are not and they are rolling back due to you not having purchased the supscription.

That makes sense, thanks for all your help and information. I have donated as it's the second time you have helped me. You guys are great :)
