[SOLVED] Failing to install Aug or Jul cumulative updates

My PC is failing to install either the August (KB4512508) or July (KB4505903) cumulative updates, giving generic error 0x800f0982, and meaning I cannot update beyond build 18362.239 - I have tried resetting WU using the various tools online and using the standalone installers, but they still fail.

Having read around the topic (and specifically the registry fix offered in the below thread), I wonder whether I have the same problem as this user, as I have also used a tool to uninstall the Connect app:

I have followed the instructions and attach the CBS logs from SFC (which found some corruptions), but SFCFix did not find anything:

Yes, you should be okay with running that fix.

As for your corruption detected by SFC. That has been fixed. Run it once again in order to confirm.
