Hello,

I've been having failures in Windows Updates on my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1 Pro. SFC reported errors that it couldn't cure and an Internet trawl brought me here.

I have downloaded sfcfix and run it and each time it gives me the same result:

SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2015-10-14 16:49:30.650
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update 3 - amd64
Not using a script file.

I've deleted some blank lines, but otherwise that's the log file. Not only is there a fault that isn't being put right but the CNBJ2530.DPB fault is reported and fixed every time I run SFCFix. I've tried running it twice in succession and I've tried rebooting before running it again.

Is this worth grappling with or should I just use the recovery media to get me back to square one?

Many thanks,
Rob499.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Can you let me know, is it your desire to update this to Windows 10? It's a free update. I updated my surface pro to Windows 10 and love it. Just want to know your intentions as this gives us other options for repairing.

Thanks.

Thank you for the welcome.

Last time I checked on the Windows 10 update (a few weeks ago now) the Pro 3 wasn't yet supported for Windows 10. A bit ironic being a Microsoft machine!

But yes, I do intend to move to Windows 10 at some point. That could be now if it helps.

Thank you!

BrianDrab,

Thank you for your help and pointing me towards the Windows 10 upgrade tool.

I've upgraded. It's hardly slick; you have to take the recovery media out part way through but there's no prompt to do so.

Once the upgrade was complete I ran sfc /scannow and it reported corruption that it had fixed. I restarted the computer and ran sfc /scannow again and this time is reported no issues. It looks like I may be in the clear; thank you.

Cheers,
Rob499.
