Hello,

I am struggeling with this update for quite awhile (months) and it starts to annoy me bigtime :(. Everytime i try to update the update downloads and installs correctly (at least it seems that way). After the reboot it continues the installation but hangs at 30% and than rolls back for about 7 minutes. And it says fail at the update windows (see updateerror.png for the eventviewer message).

I have a desktop running windows enterprise 8.1, with ssd so i have my user profiles on a different hd.

I tried alot of different solutions from different threads, but nothing helped so far.

- SFC.exe /Scannow + DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- I dont have a kodac printer so i dont think that is the problem
- Ran sfcfix.exe
- Tried to install the .msu with the downloaded file from microsoft
- added accessories to my userprofile

I have added the cbs.log in the zip, there are some errors, but they dont make any sense to me.

Hopefully one of you gurus can solve this problem.

Regards,

Erwtwin

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Your CBS.log is clean. Let's make sure it's the same after a DISM scan, then we'll move on to troubleshooting that installation error.

I didn't see any traces of this in your MiniToolBox but, are you using a proxy and/or a VPN? Also, can you disable AVG (your Antivirus), and try to install the update manually?

Your System Reserved Partition only have 15% of space left on it, and from what I can find online, this is often the cause of the specific error code you are getting. Do you know how to shrink/expand partitions (resize them) or you never did that before?

Can you upload the following log for me so I can check it?

C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log

Thanks, follow the instructions below please.
